Presidential Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik on Wednesday instructed the presidential staff to "review bills that have failed to pass the National Assembly and state tasks that are being delayed."
The presidential office said Kang chaired a meeting of senior secretaries that day and issued the instruction, saying, "As we enter the second year of the administration, create changes that the public can feel with a sense of speed." Kang gave himself a positive assessment, noting achievements over the administration's first year including the KOSPI surpassing 8,000 and a record $700 billion in exports, but urged staff, "Do not be complacent with current achievements." He added, "Carefully examine whether there are any disagreements between ministries or a lack of communication."
Kang also addressed the policy proposals from the presidential office's Youth Future Advisory Group, which were announced the previous day. "I will personally go anywhere there are young people who want dialogue," he said, instructing the Office of the Senior Secretary for Listening and Integration to prepare plans to communicate directly with young people.
