Lee Jae-myung Democratic Party leader Jung Chung-rae said on the 11th, "Throughout history, we have won when we united and lost when we divided," emphasizing, "Before the era's task of the Lee Jae-myung government's success and retaining power, we must unite — first, second, and third."
Jung made the remarks at a general meeting of lawmakers held at the National Assembly that day, saying, "Politics may seem to be done by politicians, but in the end it is done by the people, and I keep in my heart President Lee's words asking whether the small differences among us are greater than those of our opponents."
He raised his voice, saying, "We overcame the night of the December 3 emergency martial law insurrection and launched the Lee Jae-myung government through the remarkable resilience of K-democracy and the revolution of light," adding, "We are comrades who united and fought against the oppression that sought to kill President Lee with the pens of the press, the swords of the prosecution, and even the guns and blades of the martial law troops during the three years under the Yoon Suk-yeol prosecutorial dictatorship."
He continued, "I fully sympathize with President Lee's assessment and perception of the June 3 local election results," adding, "What we must now do with composed hearts is resolve and pledge to rally firmly around President Lee, make the government a success, and surely retain power."
Jung also called for the party's resolute response to the recent poor ballot management by the National Election Commission. He said, "The NEC's poor management has brought about enormous public anger and distrust," adding, "The National Assembly must take the highest level of measures possible to respond to the people."
He further requested, "The floor leadership has swiftly and clearly expressed the party's position and even convened today's plenary session to take action, which is truly a job well done," adding, "As always, the party, government, and presidential office are one team. Let us rally firmly, take resolute measures, and raise our voices against the NEC's irresponsible outcome."
