President Lee Jae-myung signaled a cabinet reshuffle Sunday, saying, "It has been one year since the government's launch, and the time seems to have come to realign our working methods, content, and direction."
At a press conference marking his first anniversary in office, Lee said, "Starting with the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the time has now come to change roles and methods." He added, "Also, they cannot continue to the very end of the government's term. There are many difficult areas, and there are health issues from exhaustion."
However, he said, "An appropriate reshuffle must be carried out at an appropriate time, but at this point I have not carefully reviewed the timing." He added, "It will be done at an appropriate time and on an appropriate scale."
