
Chinese President Xi Jinping attended a welcome ceremony held at Pyongyang's Kim Il-sung Square on Monday.
Xinhua News Agency reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un held a grand welcome ceremony for Xi at Kim Il-sung Square that day. Large portraits of Kim and Xi were displayed at the square, along with banners reading "Eternal Friendship Between North Korea and China" and "Long Live the Unbreakable Friendship and Unity Between North Korea and China" in Korean and Chinese.
Kim and his wife, Ri Sol-ju, greeted Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan. When they ascended the review platform, the North Korean military band performed the national anthems of both countries and then fired a 21-gun salute. Pyongyang citizens also welcomed Xi while holding flags, flowers, and balloons.
