Former President Park Geun-hye cast her ballot at a polling station in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, on Tuesday, the day of the June 3 local elections. "Each vote adds up to determine the direction the country will take," Park said, urging citizens to participate in the election.
Park visited the third polling station of Yuga-eup, set up at Bisul Elementary School in Dalseong-gun, Daegu, around 10 a.m. that morning. The location is approximately 1.1 kilometers in a straight line from her private residence.
Some citizens gathered at the site from early hours to see the former president. Dressed in light-colored pants and a pink shirt, Park exchanged greetings with citizens before standing behind voters who had arrived earlier and waiting her turn.
After completing identity verification, Park received her ballots and headed to the polling booth. The area is also holding a parliamentary by-election. With the proportional representation basic council member elected without a vote, Park received a total of seven ballots.
After voting, Park met with reporters and said, "Voting is a truly important right of the people and at the same time a duty." She added, "I hope everyone exercises that precious vote to create a better future for our country."
Park further said, "Each precious vote adds up to determine the direction the country will take, so my wish is that people participate not just 'in large numbers' but 'without fail.'"
When asked about her future plans for conservative unity, she said, "I will just go on my way," before leaving the site.
