Han Byung-do, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, pledged that "the party, government, and presidential office will do our utmost to ensure that the fruits of economic recovery are evenly distributed to all our citizens," citing economic developments including the KOSPI breaking the 8,800 mark and last year's $700 billion in exports.
Han made the remarks at a floor leadership meeting at the National Assembly on Tuesday, one day ahead of the June 3 local elections, saying, "Together with the hardworking Lee Jae-myung administration, the Republic of Korea's great leap forward is being prepared step by step."
He emphasized that voters should support the Democratic Party for an economic leap forward. "In this local election, please vote for the hardworking Lee Jae-myung administration, the capable Democratic Party, and a great leap forward for our economy," he said. "I am reminded of the day exactly one year ago when I gave my all for President Lee Jae-myung's election. I feel as earnest and desperate as I did a year ago."
"And tomorrow, exactly one year later, is the June 3 local election day," he stressed. "This local election is the starting point for completing the normalization of the state and moving toward a great leap forward for the Republic of Korea and a country where the regions thrive." He added, "We cannot leave in place the incompetent and irresponsible local powers that emerged on the back of Yoon Suk-yeol four years ago and ruined their regions. They must be held to account."
"We must ensure the success of the Lee Jae-myung administration and provide solid support for the momentum of state affairs," Han said. "I appeal to the people with an earnest heart. Please complete the success of the Lee Jae-myung administration with your vote."
He also said, "Those who have already cast early votes, please call your family, friends, and acquaintances to urge them to participate in voting. The Democratic Party will approach this election with a humble and modest attitude until midnight today, to the very end."
