The Republic of Korea Army is hosting a special exhibition under the theme "Our Patriotism, Fragments of Memory," displaying past winning works of the Korea Patriotic Art Contest at the Cheongnamdae Memorial Hall in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, to mark the Memorial and Patriots Month.
The exhibition, the 16th of its kind, will run for about a month from the 2nd to the 30th at the special exhibition room of the Cheongnamdae Memorial Hall. Approximately 50 winning works from the 1st through 14th editions of the Korea Patriotic Art Contest will be on display, spanning paintings, calligraphy, sculpture and photography.
The Korea Patriotic Art Contest is held annually by the Army for all citizens with the aim of "communicating with the public through art" and "fostering the patriotic and security spirit of citizens and soldiers."
"By holding this special exhibition during the Memorial and Patriots Month at Cheongnamdae, where the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea Memorial Hall is also located, we expect it will greatly contribute to reminding people of the meaning of 'patriotism' and 'love of country,'" said Lieutenant Colonel Kim Hyun-bae, cultural operations officer at Army Headquarters.
