
Republic of Korea Marine Corps Commandant Joo Il-seok will visit Washington, D.C. from December 1 to 7 to meet with U.S. Marine Corps Commandant General Eric Smith and other senior officers, the ROK Marine Corps said Monday.
The visit, made at the official invitation of the U.S. Marine Corps headquarters, will include meetings with Commandant Smith, U.S. Marine Corps Training and Education Command chief Lieutenant General Benjamin Watson, and other key commanders.
During the trip, the two sides plan to discuss strengthening military cooperation through joint exercises and personnel exchanges, establishing a combined defense posture, and shaping future innovation strategies, the Marine Corps said.
Commandant Joo also plans to visit the Korean War Veterans Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Chosin Reservoir Battle Monument to pay tribute and lay wreaths in honor of veterans of the 1950-53 Korean War.
