President Lee Jae-myung will hold a press conference marking the first anniversary of his inauguration on June 8, where he will unveil his vision for the second year of his administration.
Lee Kyu-yeon, senior presidential secretary for public relations and communications, announced the plan during a briefing at the Chunchugwan press hall of the Presidential Office on Tuesday. The first-anniversary press conference will be held at the Presidential Office's state guest house for 100 minutes. It will be the fourth press conference following those held on the 30th and 100th days after inauguration and the New Year press conference. Approximately 160 domestic and foreign journalists are expected to attend.
"This press conference will be an occasion to look back on the past year of the People's Sovereignty Government and to elaborate on the vision and key tasks for the second year of the administration," the senior secretary said. "The president is scheduled to deliver a first-anniversary address." He described the key visual representing the press conference as "the light symbolizing democracy and the path all citizens walk together."
As with previous events, the press conference will be conducted in an unscripted format, with reporters freely engaging in question-and-answer sessions as designated by the president and the moderator. The conference will be divided into three sections: livelihood economy; politics, diplomacy and security; and society and culture.
Two university students who work as campus journalists will also attend. As recipients of last year's Korea Press Foundation University Press Awards, they will pose questions to President Lee on behalf of the younger generation.
