People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk urged voters to support the party's candidates, saying, "This election is about protecting your home, your assets, and your paycheck."
Jang made the remarks Thursday at a central election strategy committee meeting held at the party's headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul. "Looking at the recent behavior of Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party, it is nothing short of 'Myeongsa-se,' a world where only Lee Jae-myung lives," he said.
Jang particularly pointed out that "there are words that have disappeared from Lee Jae-myung's mouth," identifying them as "measures on prices, exchange rates, and interest rates."
"Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party talk only about stock prices," he said. "It is companies that drive up stock prices, while managing prices, exchange rates, and interest rates is the role of the government and the ruling party."
He added, "They have ruined everything they were supposed to do, while taking credit for the achievements made by companies as if they were their own."
Jang also criticized Kim Yong-beom, director of the presidential office's policy planning, saying, "He has put forward an SF-fantasy-level economic theory that the three highs are the cost of success." He continued, "Ordinary people are suffering from soaring prices, and small and medium-sized enterprises are worried about survival due to high exchange rates. Whose cost of success are the people paying for?"
"The People Power Party does not call the people's suffering the cost of success," he stressed. "We will establish and implement sound economic policies so that the people can escape the hell of three highs and enjoy true prosperity."
