
Prime Minister Kim Min-seok issued an urgent directive Wednesday regarding the crushing accident caused by the collapse of an overpass in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, ordering that "the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Fire Agency mobilize all available equipment and personnel to make life-saving efforts the top priority."
Kim called on related agencies, including the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seodaemun-gu Office, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to provide the personnel and equipment needed for rescue operations and to actively cooperate so that on-site rescue activities can proceed smoothly. He also instructed officials to identify nearby medical facilities with available capacity and swiftly transport any injured persons to minimize casualties.
The prime minister also emphasized safety measures, including site control to ensure the safety of rescue workers operating at the scene and to prevent further casualties.
