Two French veterans of the United Nations forces who fought in the Korean War will be laid to rest at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said Tuesday that a repatriation ceremony for the late André Dachary and Jacques Grizolet will be held at Incheon International Airport on the 26th. Dachary, who passed away in March last year, served in the army with the UN French Battalion from March 1953 to August 1954, taking part in various battles. Grizolet, who passed away in November 2024, engaged North Korean forces from April 1951 to July 1952 and again from March to October 1953.
The government will hold a burial ceremony on the 27th at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Busan, hosted by the French Embassy in Korea, with Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Kang Yun-jin and others in attendance. With the addition of the two veterans, the total number of veterans posthumously interred at the UN Memorial Cemetery rises to 37.
