Cho Ung-chun, the Reform Party's candidate for Gyeonggi Province governor, declared that "if Cho Ung-chun surpasses 15 percent in vote share, the People Power Party's Jang Dong-hyuk leadership will be shaken mercilessly, and the moment we break through 20 percent, the outdated two-party structure will collapse in an instant."
Cho made the remarks Friday at the launch ceremony of the Reform Party's Central Election Strategy Committee and Gyeonggi Province Election Strategy Committee held in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, saying, "A vote for Yang Hyang-ja is a vote for the incompetent Jang Dong-hyuk."
Cho particularly argued that "extending the Jang Dong-hyuk regime would open a wide highway for the shameless Democratic Party led by Lee Jae-myung, Jung Cheong-rae, and Choo Mi-ae to hold power for the next 20 to 30 years," adding, "Judging Yang Hyang-ja is the path to judging Jang Dong-hyuk."
He continued, "Judging Yang Hyang-ja is the starting point of the path to restoring principle and common sense," and urged, "Just because you dislike Choo Mi-ae, just because you want to stop the Democratic Party's reckless drive, let's not make foolish wasted votes by casting them for Jang Dong-hyuk's avatar."
Cho also said, "What Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk fears most in this local election is the result of Oh Se-hoon being elected in Seoul, Cho Ung-chun in Gyeonggi, and independent Han Dong-hoon in Busan Buk-A district." He added, "That is why a vote for Cho Ung-chun is a vote that saves the future, while a vote for Yang Hyang-ja is a vote that kills the future."
He further stated, "The Jang Dong-hyuk regime must collapse for the People Power Party to change, and the People Power Party must change for sensible political forces to grow and stop the Democratic Party's reckless drive." He pointed out, "Chairman Jang Dong-hyuk, blinded only by maintaining his own party leadership, desperately needs a smokescreen tactic with Yang Hyang-ja as a scarecrow."
Cho also unveiled five regional pledges for Gyeonggi Province on the same day. Foremost, he pledged to transform the southern Gyeonggi semiconductor belt — encompassing Icheon, Yongin, Hwaseong, Suwon, and Pyeongtaek — into a new center of the Korean economy.
To achieve this, he plans to build a Semiconductor Express, an industrial transportation network of roads and railways connecting the semiconductor belt cities to Pyeongtaek Port and the Southern Gyeonggi International Airport. The plan calls for separating time-sensitive cargo such as materials, parts, and equipment from general traffic for direct transport, while stably handling large-scale commuting demand through rail.
The relocation of the Suwon military airfield will be elevated to a state-led project, and a civilian-military integrated airport, the Southern Gyeonggi International Airport, will be built on the site. In addition, the existing Suwon military airfield site will be utilized to create a complex city integrating semiconductor headquarters functions, research and development (R&D), a startup and partner company valley, and business services such as law firms, accounting, and consulting.
Cho also plans to establish a "Future Growth Infrastructure Fund" that will accumulate tax revenues from the semiconductor boom as funding for future infrastructure investment, rather than depleting them as one-time cash payouts.
"Until now, southern Gyeonggi has been the 'egg white' supporting Seoul, but it will now be reborn as the 'yolk' at the heart of the Korean economy, an independent center of industry, residence, and business," Cho emphasized.
