
Cheong Wa Dae said it is "closely watching President Trump's remarks" after U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to support the passage of third-country vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
"The government expects the global maritime logistics network to swiftly regain stability and return to normal," the Presidential Office said. "South Korea and the United States are maintaining continuous and close communication on the stable use of major sea lanes, including the Strait of Hormuz."
It added, "We are communicating and cooperating with related countries under the position that freedom of navigation and safety for all vessels in the Strait of Hormuz must be guaranteed, and that the normalization of global energy supply must be achieved swiftly."
On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said he would launch "Project Freedom" to extract vessels trapped in the Strait of Hormuz, beginning on the morning of the 4th, Middle East time.
