Kim Nam-joon, a Democratic Party preliminary candidate for the National Assembly by-election in Gyeyang-B, Incheon, unveiled his campaign concept for the June 3 by-election on Monday. A significant number of election branding experts who led President Lee Jae-myung's presidential campaign have joined his team.
Photographer Kang Young-ho and designer Son Hyun-ho participated in creating Kim's campaign slogan and imagery, the camp said. Kang previously photographed the campaign poster of then-presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, as well as photos of presidential candidate Moon Jae-in.
Son oversaw the design of posters, business cards, and banners during the last presidential election. He drew praise for emphasizing national unity by designing a red triangle symbolizing the integration of conservatives and progressives. The red trapezoid at the bottom of Kim's concept image reflects his determination to inherit President Lee Jae-myung's philosophy and legitimacy while developing Gyeyang-B anew.
Kim himself oversaw branding work during the 21st presidential election, planning key slogans for the Lee Jae-myung camp such as "Real Korea" and "K-Initiative." He also led the branding slogan planning for this by-election, creating the phrase "Lee Jae-myung's Leadoff Hitter." The slogan signifies that he is the right person to best understand President Lee Jae-myung's governing philosophy and most swiftly resolve local issues.
The legal support team from Lee Jae-myung's presidential campaign will also join Kim's camp. Attorneys Park Hyun-seok and Choi Jung-min, known as "Lee Jae-myung's legal defense team," will serve as co-heads of the legal support team. Park served as co-counsel in the appellate trial on Public Official Election Act charges against then-Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung last year, leading to a not-guilty verdict. Choi provided legal support for President Lee Jae-myung in the 19th, 20th, and 21st presidential elections.
"I gained great strength as many experts who shared hardships with me during the last presidential election joined the team," Kim said. "I will become 'Lee Jae-myung's leadoff hitter,' who will be the first to realize President Lee Jae-myung's governing philosophy in Gyeyang, and I, Kim Nam-joon, will fulfill Lee Jae-myung's promises."
