Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong drew attention on the 20th (local time) by taking a selfie with President Lee Jae-myung, who is on a state visit to India, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Samsung Electronics Newsroom released the original selfie taken by Chairman Lee using a Flip 7 produced at the Noida plant in India. Through the newsroom, Samsung said Chairman Lee took the selfie while attending a luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Modi on the occasion of President Lee's state visit to India.
Samsung has been manufacturing mobile phones in Noida since 1996, and produces all flagship models including foldables as well as entry-level models at its Noida plant in India. Through this, Samsung Electronics said it is contributing to the Indian government's "Make in India" policy. Make in India is a manufacturing revitalization campaign announced by Prime Minister Modi in 2014. It is a national strategy to make India a global manufacturing hub through investment attraction, innovation, technology, infrastructure, and FDI, raising the share of manufacturing to 25% by 2022.
On this day, before the summit with Prime Minister Modi, President Lee also emphasized the vision of "Make in India, Together with Korea" in an interview with local media. President Lee declared, "Both countries will strengthen cooperation in the fields of AI and digital technology," adding, "Korea's world-class AI infrastructure and India's vast pool of AI talent are heavenly partners for cooperation, and we will actively pursue new joint projects."
