
The People Power Party (PPP) Seoul chapter's Nomination Management Committee has decided to select its candidate for Seoul's Seocho District mayor in the June 3 local elections through a primary. Incumbent District Mayor Jeon Seong-su will face off against Seoul Metropolitan Council Speaker Choi Ho-jung.
The PPP Seoul chapter's Nomination Management Committee held a meeting Thursday and approved the decision. The final candidate will be confirmed through a resolution by the city and provincial party operations committee followed by approval from the Supreme Council, in accordance with party rules.
Meanwhile, the PPP central party's Nomination Management Committee has completed additional candidate registration for the June 3 by-election in North Jeolla Province's Gunsan-Gimje-Buan-Gap district.
"We have completed additional registration for the June 3 by-election in the Gunsan-Gimje-Buan-Gap district of North Jeolla Province," the committee said. The sole applicant is Oh Ji-sung, former chapter chairman of the Gunsan-Gimje-Buan-Gap district party.
The committee plans to conduct document review and interviews soon to verify candidates' qualifications and competitiveness.
