Han Byung-do, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said the allegations of fabricated prosecution in the North Korea remittance case have "completely moved beyond the suspicion stage." Regarding the People Power Party's opposition to constitutional amendment, he warned that "if they refuse this calling of the times, the People Power Party will be recorded in history as a regressive party blocking the nation's future."
Han made the remarks at a policy coordination meeting held at the National Assembly on Friday, stating that "evidence fabrication, witness coercion, and the reality of fabricated prosecution are being revealed through the salmon and drinking party incidents and the recording about persuading higher-ups."
He added that "allegations have also been raised that prosecutors Eom Hee-jun and Kang Baek-shin were involved in the Daejang-dong case even before their official personnel appointments. How far does the wrongdoing of Yoon Suk-yeol's politicized prosecution go?"
Han directly accused the case of being "not a deviation by a single prosecutor but an organized criminal scheme at the regime level." He said "it has already been revealed to the whole world that the Presidential Office manipulated even the National Security Office and the National Intelligence Service for the fabricated prosecution," adding "isn't this impossible without the orders of insurrection ringleader Yoon Suk-yeol?" He explained that the essence of the case is ultimately "killing Lee Jae-myung."
Han also sharply criticized the People Power Party for opposing constitutional amendment. "The People Power Party is engaging in irresponsible political demagoguery over the constitutional amendment," he said, pointing out that "People Power Party leader Chang Dong-hyuk is politicizing the issue by bringing up presidential re-election, which is unrelated to the content of the amendment."
He emphasized, "As I have repeatedly said, this constitutional amendment consists of content on which the ruling and opposition parties have no disagreement. If there is anything among these three items—including democratization movement provisions, strengthening martial law requirements, and balanced regional development—that the People Power Party opposes, state it clearly."
