The Ministry of National Defense announced Thursday that it held the inauguration ceremony for the 11th class of M-Friends, the ministry's online supporters group, at the Defense Convention in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
M-Friends is a university student online supporters program operated to strengthen communication between the Ministry of National Defense and the public. Members experience defense policies and military sites firsthand from a youth perspective and create content to share with the public.
The 11th class of M-Friends consists of 29 university students with diverse backgrounds, including ROTC cadets, military family members, and Instagram cartoon artists. The activity period runs for nine months through December.
Yoon Ji-hun, a supporter who is an ROTC cadet, expressed his aspirations: "As a future officer, I want to observe military sites more deeply than anyone else and create content that genuinely conveys the dedication of our service members to the public."
Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Jeong Bit-na encouraged the group, saying, "I hope you will play a significant role in spreading public understanding and empathy for national defense by directly experiencing various defense sites and conveying them vividly."
The 11th class of M-Friends will cover major defense events and policy sites, including the Military Job Fair and the Seoul Defense Dialogue (SDD), and produce content from a youth perspective.
