President Lee Jae-myung held a phone call with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul on Wednesday, congratulating him on his reelection and discussing coordination on the Middle East situation.
Kang Yu-jeong, senior presidential spokesperson, announced the details through a written briefing the same day.
Prime Minister Anutin expressed gratitude for President Lee's congratulations, stating, "Thailand places high priority on cooperation with its strategic partner Korea amid global uncertainty." He emphasized his hope that bilateral relations would further develop on the occasion of his reelection.
The two leaders agreed during the call to deepen cooperation across various areas including the economy, security, public safety and cultural exchanges. They also agreed to work together toward an early conclusion of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) currently under negotiation between the two countries. Additionally, they agreed to closely coordinate amid global energy supply chain instability triggered by the Middle East situation.
