South Korea's Ministry of National Defense signed a memorandum of understanding with Starbucks Korea on Tuesday to enhance welfare for military service members under the "Hero Program," the ministry said.
The agreement is part of Starbucks' Hero Program, which supports uniformed service members. Under the pact, the Defense Ministry and Starbucks will jointly promote welfare improvements for military personnel.
The two sides agreed to cooperate on the following initiatives:
△ Beverage support through visits to military bases in remote areas
△ Scholarships for children of soldiers killed or injured in the line of duty
△ Employment support for service members approaching discharge
"We hope this meaningful cooperation to enhance welfare benefits and boost morale for our military personnel will continue going forward," Vice Minister of National Defense Lee Du-hee said.
"This will be a meaningful partnership that conveys our gratitude to service members and provides practical support in strengthening their employment capabilities before discharge," said Lee Su-yeon, head of strategic planning at Starbucks Korea.
