President Lee Jae-myung marked Easter on Saturday by expressing his hope that "the miracle of resurrection — moving toward peace rather than confrontation and division, and love rather than hatred and conflict — will be realized in our society today."
"I pray that the blessed peace and grace of the risen Lord will abundantly descend upon our entire nation and its people," Lee wrote on Facebook.
In his post, Lee quoted a passage from the Gospel of John: "Peace be with you." He introduced it as "the first words that the risen Jesus Christ spoke to his disciples, who were trembling in fear."
"These words remain an unchanging source of comfort and courage for us as we each strive to carry on amid the anxiety caused by the war in the Middle East," he added.
"The Republic of Korea will unite as one to wisely overcome this crisis," Lee stressed.
