North Korea has reorganized the "Faculty of Information Science" at Kim Il-sung University into the "Faculty of Artificial Intelligence," introducing core artificial intelligence courses as part of a push to cultivate AI talent.
According to Kim Il-sung University's website on Sunday, the Faculty of Information Science was restructured into the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence in July last year. The faculty comprises departments including Artificial Intelligence, Information Science, Information and Communications, and Programming.
Key courses offered by the faculty were introduced as "deep learning application," "machine learning," "data mining," and "cloud computing" — each rendered in distinctly North Korean terminology. The subjects appear to cover essential AI disciplines including deep learning, machine learning, data mining, and cloud computing.
