The Presidential Office unveiled its official website on Wednesday, marking President Lee Jae-myung's 300th day in office, built around the governing philosophies of "realizing popular sovereignty" and "participation and communication." The Presidential Office had been operating a temporary website using the domain from the presidential office website under the former Yoon Suk-yeol administration, as President Lee began his term immediately without a presidential transition committee.
"We are launching a website where citizens directly become the protagonists of governance and participate," the Presidential Office said in a press release. "The key feature of this website overhaul is the creation of three new citizen-participation menus."
The first menu, "Moments with the President," is a space where citizens can upload photos taken with the president stored on their personal phones directly to the website. Photos submitted through the site will be published after a simple verification process. The Presidential Office explained that the section will symbolize a "collectively built Presidential Office" by sharing moments of governance recorded from citizens' perspectives.
"Digital Goods I Create" is a participatory bulletin board where citizens can propose and share digital content they have personally designed, such as smartphone wallpapers and smartwatch faces. Content created by citizens can be freely downloaded and used by anyone. "Policies That Resonate in Everyday Life" is a space for introducing and proposing policy ideas that directly affect citizens' daily lives.
The website also focuses on enhancing government transparency and convenience. "We pursued 'innovation in information disclosure' by establishing a 'proactive information disclosure list,'" the Presidential Office said. "In line with the philosophy of the popular sovereignty government, which aims for a 'transparent government,' this proactively discloses information lists from major Presidential Office departments to guarantee citizens' right to know and enhance administrative transparency." The Presidential Office added that it built a digital-device-optimized interface to dramatically improve information accessibility, aiming to create a "user-centered media hub."
"This is a strong expression of our commitment to share the achievements of the past 300 days — which we navigated without a transition committee — with the public and to design future governance together with citizens," the Presidential Office said. "We will operate the website as a space where citizens' voices resonate from the highest place."
