The ruling and opposition parties agreed Wednesday to pass the 25 trillion won ($17.4 billion) supplementary budget bill through a plenary session by April 10.
Han Byeong-do, floor leader of the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea, and Song Eon-seok, floor leader of the ruling People Power Party, held four rounds of negotiations including a luncheon meeting and announced the agreement.
The two sides first agreed to set the March extraordinary session to run through April 2, with the April extraordinary session to begin on April 3. The presidential address on the supplementary budget will take place on the last day of the March extraordinary session. Interpellation sessions will follow on April 3, 6 and 13.
The Budget and Accounts Special Committee's comprehensive policy questioning and ministry-level reviews for the supplementary budget are scheduled for April 7 and 8.
"The ruling and opposition parties have agreed on the April extraordinary session schedule for the supplementary budget. Detailed review and consultation on the budget bill will be discussed at the Budget and Accounts Special Committee level," floor leader Han said.
