The People Power Party on Wednesday nominated incumbent Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo and South Chungcheong Governor Kim Tae-heum as its sole candidates for the June 3 local elections.
The party's nomination management committee confirmed the selections in a press release.
"Mayor Lee has consistently pursued policies to enhance Daejeon's future competitiveness," the committee said. "We decided to nominate him as the sole candidate for Daejeon mayor after comprehensively considering these achievements and his administrative capabilities."
"Governor Kim has driven substantial changes across various sectors, including strengthening South Chungcheong's industrial base," the committee added. "We decided to nominate him as the sole candidate for South Chungcheong governor after comprehensively considering his proven leadership."
