Prime Minister Kim Min-seok will open the prime minister's official residence in Samcheong-dong to the public through an "Open House" program.
The Prime Minister's Office explained on the 6th that the initiative "was designed to introduce the spatial significance of the Samcheong-dong residence to the public and share this public space with citizens."
Kim conducted a pilot Open House program for Prime Minister's Office staff on the same day. The program will expand its scope and open to broader groups every Saturday going forward.
Based on the pilot results, a formal residence tour program will launch in May, accepting applications from the general public.
"The official residence should go beyond being a simple workspace and become an open space for communication with the people," Kim said. "Through this opening of the residence, we will strive to bring the government closer to the public and narrow the distance between government and citizens."
