Admiral Kang Dong-gil, Chief of Naval Operations of the Republic of Korea Navy, has tendered his resignation after receiving a heavy disciplinary penalty of one-month suspension.
The Navy announced on the 4th that "Admiral Kang respects the Ministry of National Defense's disciplinary decision and has expressed his intention to resign effective today."
Earlier, the Ministry of National Defense imposed the heavy disciplinary action against Admiral Kang for violation of duty of loyalty in connection with the illegal martial law declaration on December 3rd.
