Rep. Park Chan-dae of the Democratic Party of Korea has been selected as the party's candidate for Incheon mayor.
The Democratic Party's Nomination Management Committee announced on the 4th, "We are selecting Park Chan-dae as the sole candidate for Incheon mayor."
The committee explained the nomination background, stating, "Since joining the party in 2009, Park has grown into a strong pillar of the Democratic Party. He challenged Yeonsu-gu, considered a stronghold difficult for the party, and became the district's first Democratic Party lawmaker in 30 years."
The committee added, "As floor leader, he managed the emergency martial law crisis. The Nomination Management Committee determined that Park Chan-dae, who has been dedicated to the party, is the right person for the position." The committee also urged, "We earnestly ask for warm interest and encouragement as Park Chan-dae, who was born and raised in Incheon, takes this step toward his hometown."
Rep. Park expressed his aspirations, saying, "I will make President Lee Jae-myung's key policies succeed in Incheon first." He emphasized, "I will use Incheon's policy successes as a standard to bring real change to citizens' lives and spread this success model nationwide."
Democratic Party Chairman Chung Chung-rae praised Park, saying, "Rep. Park is a courageous politician who fought on the front lines, taking risks as a countermeasures committee member against Yoon Suk-yeol's prosecutorial dictatorship." He added, "The versatile and resourceful Rep. Park will serve as a driving force in the June 3 election."
