The Iranian Embassy in South Korea condemned US-Israeli strikes on Iran as "a war crime and clear act of aggression," urging the international community to "take immediate and effective measures to hold them accountable."
In a statement released on the 3rd, the embassy said "the US-Israeli invasion of Iran was carried out while diplomatic procedures (negotiations) between Iran and the United States were underway."
"The Iranian people have made every effort to prevent war and have engaged in negotiations with sincerity," the embassy stated. "In response to this clear act of aggression, we are mobilizing all capabilities and means to resolutely repel enemy threats based on the legitimate right of self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and will continue to do so."
According to the Associated Press, at least 555 people were killed in Iran. The embassy noted that "more than 165 schoolgirls were killed in an attack on the city of Minab," adding that "this incident clearly demonstrates that the aggressors' claims of targeting only military facilities were patently false."
