
Former lawmaker Park Yong-jin, known for challenging large conglomerates' governance structures including proposing the Samsung Life Insurance Act, has been appointed vice chairman of the Presidential Regulatory Reform Committee. The so-called "Samsung sniper" has transformed into a troubleshooter tasked with lowering regulatory barriers for businesses.
Following the Blue House personnel announcement on the 2nd, Park wrote on Facebook: "I am honored to serve the people while working alongside the President to address national agenda items."
He continued: "The world is changing at tremendous speed, and our society and businesses are suffering inefficient losses due to outdated or unreasonable systems and regulations. For Korea to stand tall as a global leading nation, we need to rationally review regulations and systems."
Park added: "Through the Regulatory Reform Committee, I will work with the President to achieve a great leap forward for Korea. While protecting public safety and social justice, I will clear away the old obstacles blocking change throughout society."
