President Lee Jae-myung arrived in Singapore on Wednesday for a summit meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong.
The two leaders will hold talks and a friendship luncheon on Thursday to discuss ways to strengthen strategic cooperation in advanced technology sectors, including artificial intelligence.
The meeting marks their first encounter in four months since their summit on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation leaders' meeting in Gyeongju last November.
On the same day, President Lee will also meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and attend a state dinner. He will participate in the AI Connect Summit, where future AI leaders from both countries will gather to explore joint development opportunities.
Singapore ranks first among 174 countries in the International Monetary Fund's 2024 AI Preparedness Index, which quantitatively evaluates nations' readiness for artificial intelligence.
President Lee will depart for the Philippines, the second destination of his tour, on Friday after completing his three-day visit.
