South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday that no Korean nationals have been affected by the ongoing tensions between Iran and Israel.
"Approximately 60 Korean nationals are currently in Iran and about 600 in Israel," the ministry said. "No reports of harm to Korean citizens have been received so far."
The ministry said it has been in constant real-time communication between headquarters and diplomatic missions across the Middle East since the situation began on Feb. 28, monitoring local conditions and confirming the safety of Korean residents.
"Vice Foreign Minister Kim Jin-ah will chair a joint headquarters-embassy meeting today to review safety measures for overseas Koreans," the ministry added.
The ministry also said it is closely monitoring airspace closures and flight operations in neighboring countries beyond Iran and Israel, and will continue to provide necessary consular assistance.
