Russia's Foreign Ministry on the 28th condemned the Israeli-U.S. attack on Iran as "reckless," calling it "a premeditated, unjustified military aggression against Iran, a sovereign nation and UN member state."
"This violates fundamental principles of international law," the ministry stated. "The international community, including the United Nations and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), must immediately conduct an objective and sober review of this irresponsible action that undermines peace and stability in the Middle East."
On the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Akbar Salehi to share information on the situation and discuss response measures. Minister Salehi stated that Iran would "immediately request a UN Security Council meeting." Minister Lavrov emphasized that Russia would support efforts for a peaceful resolution of the Iran crisis.
