President Lee Jae-myung warned public officials in charge of illegal valley facility enforcement on Monday not to "miss this last chance" and to "fulfill their duties to the people and the nation."
The president made the remarks after sharing a post titled "Clean Valley Round 2 Begins" on X (formerly Twitter). The post noted that "local government heads reported only 835 illegal facilities nationwide to the Minister of the Interior and Safety," adding, "With such inadequate reports from local officials reaching the president through the minister, does anyone think the president will overlook this issue?"
"To the public officials who colluded with illegal facility owners, concealed illegal structures, and obstructed national administration of valley facility enforcement through false reports and dereliction of duty—we have given you an opportunity to reinvestigate and re-report through the Ministry of the Interior and Safety," President Lee said.
He warned that those who miss this opportunity "will face comprehensive investigations using all available means, including local resident employment surveys and whistleblower rewards, followed by disciplinary action and criminal prosecution for dereliction of duty, falsification of official documents, and obstruction of government administration."
The president also reiterated his commitment to real estate market stabilization. In a separate post the same day, he wrote, "Stock market reform, capital market advancement, housing market stabilization, and escape from the real estate speculation republic will continue onward."
