North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said Pyongyang has "no reason not to get along" with the United States if Washington abandons its hostile policy.
According to the Korean Central News Agency and Rodong Sinmun on the 26th, Kim made the remarks at a military parade held in Kim Il Sung Square the previous day to commemorate the 9th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea.
"The prospect of North Korea-U.S. relations depends on the United States," Kim said. "We are prepared for both coexistence and confrontation."
Kim also directed criticism at Seoul, calling the South Korean government's conciliatory attitude "a deceptive farce and a poor performance."
"We will thoroughly exercise our status as a nuclear-armed state and carry out devastating retaliation against any hostile acts by any forces," he warned.
