
President Lee Jae-myung will attend the "Expanded National Tourism Strategy Meeting" at the Blue House on the 25th. This marks the first time a sitting president has participated in the national tourism strategy meeting since 2019.
The meeting will be held under the slogan "K-Tourism Embraces the World—A Great Transformation in Inbound Tourism, A Great Leap for Regional Tourism." The Blue House issued a press release explaining that the meeting "was arranged to discuss plans to achieve 30 million foreign tourists through cross-ministerial collaboration and coordination."
A total of 56 participants from the private sector, government, and Blue House are expected to attend. Private sector attendees include tourism experts who will provide insights on Korean tourism, as well as representatives from airlines, cruise lines, travel agencies, and accommodation businesses who will convey voices from the field.
Government participants include the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, and ministers from the Ministries of Education, Interior and Safety, Culture Sports and Tourism, Agriculture Food and Rural Affairs, Health and Welfare, Land Infrastructure and Transport, and SMEs and Startups. Blue House officials attending include the Chief Policy Secretary, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs, Senior Secretary for Fiscal Planning, Senior Secretary for Economic Growth, and Senior Secretary for Social Affairs.
Presentations will proceed in the following order: the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on "Plans for Great Transformation in Inbound Tourism and Great Leap for Regional Tourism"; the Vice Minister of Justice on "Measures to Improve Immigration Convenience"; the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on "Strategy to Make Regional Airports Inbound Hubs"; the Acting Minister of Oceans and Fisheries on "Improving Cruise Tourism Infrastructure"; and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance on "Measures to Eradicate Price Gouging."
Following the presentations, joint discussions including recommendations on government proposals and industry suggestions will be held to explore support measures for realizing Korea's status as a global tourism powerhouse.
