The Military Manpower Administration announced it held an inauguration ceremony on the 25th for the "4th Fair Military Service Citizen Monitor Unit" to strengthen crackdowns on information promoting draft evasion online.
The publicly selected Fair Military Service Citizen Monitor Unit consists of 40 members. The group comprises citizens from various fields, including cyber monitoring experts, freelancers, teachers, and university students.
The monitors will track posts promoting draft evasion across social media platforms and online communities. They will also conduct prevention activities through fair military service promotions. The monitoring period runs through December 31.
Monitor unit members who achieve outstanding results during the activity period will receive commendations from the Military Manpower Administration Commissioner. Incentives including recognition of community service hours and monetary rewards will be provided based on individual performance.
"I expect the active participation of the 4th Fair Military Service Citizen Monitor Unit will play a significant role in preventing draft evasion that undermines the fairness of military service fulfillment and in elevating the noble value of military service," said Hong So-young, Commissioner of the Military Manpower Administration.
