Kim Nam-jun, former presidential spokesperson, has appealed to voters to "produce the fruit called Kim Nam-jun" while praising former Democratic Party lawmaker Song Young-gil, after officially announcing his candidacy in Gyeyang-eul, Song's district.
Kim wrote on his Facebook page that day, "Lee Jae-myung's politics could bloom thanks to the boundless dedication of Song Young-gil as the foundation." He added, "I am someone who watched Representative Song's dedication closer than anyone. How could I not respect him?"
Kim continued, "If you only protect the land, fruit cannot grow. 'Obtaining fruit by nurturing the land' is the best choice." He urged supporters to "nurture the foundation called Song Young-gil and produce the fruit called Kim Nam-jun," adding that he would "prove the value of that foundation."
Following Kim's announcement to run in Gyeyang-eul, Song's former district, various scenarios have emerged. These include Kim running in Gyeyang-eul while Song moves to Incheon Yeonsu-gap, the district of Rep. Park Chan-dae, who is expected to run for Incheon mayor. However, Song appears reluctant to change districts, making coordination urgent.
Meanwhile, Song submitted his party reinstatement application to the Democratic Party's Incheon chapter on the 20th, three years after leaving the party over the "party convention cash envelope scandal." Song, who was recently acquitted in the appellate trial of the cash envelope case, has completed his move to his former district of Gyeyang-eul.
