The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs announced Monday that it will hold experiential programs and cultural events at the National Memorial Museum of the Korean Provisional Government to commemorate the 107th anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement.
The experiential program, to be held in the Provisional Assembly Hall on the basement level of the memorial museum, consists of five activities: "Moment of Declaration: Begin with the Cry for Independence!" where participants become one of the 33 national representatives and read the Declaration of Independence aloud; "Spread of Independence: The Mugunghwa Has Bloomed!" where participants distribute the declaration while evading Japanese police; and "Independence for All: Join the Manse March!" where participants express the joy of the independence declaration through movement while watching videos.
On March 1st, the program will run 20 sessions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with each 35-minute session accommodating 50 participants. Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis with on-site registration.
After completing the program, participants can collect four "Korean Independence Four-Cut Stickers" to attach to their activity sheets. Those who complete a survey will receive a special commemorative gift—one of three March 1st Movement memorial transit card stickers—on a first-come, first-served basis.
Kim Hee-gon, Director of the National Memorial Museum of the Korean Provisional Government, said, "I hope this special experiential program and cultural events for March 1st will provide a valuable opportunity for many citizens to once again feel and experience the meaning and value of the Declaration of Independence and the proud history of the March 1st Movement."
