The Blue House announced on the 21st that it will convene an emergency cabinet meeting at 2 p.m., jointly chaired by Policy Chief Kim Yong-beom and National Security Advisor Wi Sung-lac.
The meeting follows U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to impose a 10% tariff on all countries, effective 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on the 24th. The move came after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the previous day (local time) that the Trump administration's reciprocal tariffs were unlawful.
The Blue House plans to analyze the impact of the Supreme Court ruling that invalidated the reciprocal tariffs and review countermeasures "in a direction that serves the national interest."
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy will also hold its own emergency meeting at 10 a.m., prior to the inter-ministerial meeting led by Kim and Wi.
"The government will comprehensively review the Supreme Court ruling and the U.S. government's position, and examine response measures in the direction that best serves the national interest," the Blue House said.
