Anyang Mayor Choi Dae-ho will hold a book launch event at 2 p.m. on the 20th at Anyang Art Center Convention Hall to celebrate the publication of his essay "The Next Sentence of the City," which outlines his philosophy on urban governance.
The book carries the subtitle "A Proposal for the Completion of the City: The Next Stage for Prepared City Anyang." It presents in measured prose the urban policy experience accumulated during his elected terms and the administrative challenges he has encountered in the field. The cover and interior design incorporate symbolic elements of urban lines, connectivity, and expandability to visually express the book's theme of "the next sentence."
The book covers major issues Anyang has faced, including conditions for urban growth, citizen participatory democracy, reorganization of care, education and welfare systems, climate crisis response strategies, data-based administration, and new possibilities for regional culture and sports. Rather than simply listing projects or reporting achievements, the book places at its center a perspective that views the city as a "living community," presenting key directions for the city's future.
"The future of a city is not made by administration alone, but is a shared sentence written together with citizens," Mayor Choi said. "I hope this book serves as a reflection on the path Anyang has walked and a proposal for directions so that the next generation can live in a safer and more prosperous city."
The book includes recommendations from Lim Hyuk-baek, Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Diplomacy at Korea University who served as chairman of the Democratic Party's nomination management committee for the 22nd general election and as a policy planning advisor to Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun; Kang Nam-hoon, Professor Emeritus at Hanshin University who has researched Korean-style basic income; Kim Jin-hyang, former chairman of the Kaesong Industrial District Foundation; actor Lee Won-jong; composer Kim Hyung-suk; and Lee Young-min, head coach of Bucheon FC 1995.
The book launch event will feature a book talk with citizens who participated in interviews for the book and a performance where citizens will write "the next sentence."
