North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has issued "important conclusions" on the second day of a party plenary meeting convened to prepare for the Workers' Party 9th Congress, state media reported.
According to the Korean Central News Agency on Saturday, Kim delivered the "important conclusions" during the second day of the 13th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee held the previous day. The conclusions addressed "agenda items related to the review of major party and state policy implementation this year, the work of the Party Central Auditing Commission, and preparations for the 9th Party Congress." The specific content of the conclusions was not disclosed.
At the meeting, Kim evaluated the implementation of party and state policies this year and outlined the year's major achievements. A state budget review group was also formed, and deliberations began on this year's budget execution and next year's state budget proposal.
North Korea opened the party plenary meeting on January 9, launching discussions on five agenda items including the review of party and state policy implementation this year, the work of the Party Central Auditing Commission, and preparations for the 9th Party Congress. North Korea is expected to decide and announce its major domestic and foreign policy directions for the next five years, including its approach toward the United States and South Korea, at the party congress scheduled for January or February next year.
