Regarding crimes of national violence on the 2nd, President Lee Jae-myung emphasized that “as long as they live forever, we must criminally punish them as long as they live forever, and make heirs responsible until the end within the scope of inheritance.”
At the State Council meeting held at the President's office in Yongsan, Seoul on the same day, President Lee emphasized, “What is important is that intentionally killing anyone, manipulating an incident to send a healthy person to jail, causing a military coup to overturn a country, or violating individual human rights through national violence should be like punishing a Nazi war criminal.” At the same time, he said, “This is a fundamental countermeasure,” and “it may be covered over time (it must not cool down), but they should take responsibility to prevent recurrence.”
In addition, President Lee explained, “The principle of orthodox separation is very important, and Japan, where the religious foundation itself systematically intervened in politics in violation of the principle of orthodox separation, ordered the dissolution of (the relevant) religious foundation.” President Lee said, “Separating religion and politics is a very important constitutional decision,” and raised his voice saying, “(Religion interfering in politics) is a violation of the Constitution, and neglecting this not only destroys the order of devotion, but can also be similar to a religious war.” He then asked, “The Ministry of Justice will review it, and if an implementation program comes out, the Ministry of Justice will organize it and report to the State Council which department should be in charge.”
