Netflix will participate in the "2026 Korea International Streaming Festival (KISF)," hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the city of Busan, the company said Wednesday.
The Korea International Streaming Festival is an event that reflects on the current state of the streaming industry and presents future directions. On Saturday, Netflix will deliver a special lecture under the theme "Crossing the Boundaries of Content" at the Haneulyeon Theater of the Busan Cinema Center. In the lecture, Netflix will introduce its journey of enhancing the quality of its works alongside Korea's visual effects (VFX) industry, as well as its global competitiveness.
The first lecture will be given by Kim Chan-jin, a manager on Netflix's VFX team who has overseen the management of high-difficulty VFX projects, including Netflix's "Gyeongseong Creature," "Sweet Home," "Genie, Make a Wish," and "The Great Flood." Under the theme "Beyond Reality: How Netflix Visualizes the World," he will introduce ways to utilize VFX to realize creative intent throughout the entire content production process, from pre-production to post-production.
David O'Leary, a writer and producer in film and TV series, will follow as the second lecturer. He has produced various works, including the Netflix film "Eli" and the science-fiction period drama "Project Blue Book," and currently teaches writing, producing, and filmmaking courses at the New York Film Academy's Los Angeles campus. He will deliver a lecture under the theme "K-Content in the World: Trends, Storytelling, and the Next Chapter."
"Through this lecture, we aim to shed light on the power of storytelling that anyone can relate to, which has allowed K-content to be loved around the world, along with the production-site process that has brought that imagination to the screen," a Netflix official said. "Netflix will continue to work closely with Korean creators and production partners, striving to ensure that K-content receives even more love from viewers worldwide."
