The Korea Intellectual Property Office said Friday it has selected 100 outstanding ideas from among the 27,185 entries submitted to its "Everyone's Ideas" contest.
The office held the "Everyone's Ideas Top 100 Summit" at KT&G Sangsang Planet in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the same day, where it announced the 100 ideas that passed the review. An analysis of the 100 outstanding ideas showed that in the technology category, proposals related to information technology (IT) using artificial intelligence (AI) were predominant. In the policy category, many entries focused on everyday issues such as transportation, welfare, and administration. The proposers of the 100 outstanding ideas ranged in age from 19 to 66, and participants came from all walks of life, including students, office workers, prospective entrepreneurs, and researchers.
All proposers of the 100 outstanding ideas were invited to the summit held that day. To mark the selection of the outstanding ideas, the office shared its direction for future idea-development support and will run an intensive development program over the next three months. Technology ideas will receive optional support such as expert consulting, patent applications, technology verification, and prototype production. Policy ideas will go through expert advisory and idea scale-up, with outstanding ideas advancing to pilot application by relevant ministries. The office plans to conduct presentation evaluations in September and a final championship round in October to select the final award winners.
"In the AI era, the experience and ideas of each and every citizen are precious national resources," said Kim Yong-sun, Commissioner of the Korea Intellectual Property Office. "We will provide full support so that the creative thinking of citizens discovered through Everyone's Ideas leads to tangible results in startups, policy, and technological innovation."
