Hyundai Motor Group was named "Automotive Company of the Year" at the AutoTech Awards 2026 held in Novi, Michigan, on January 2 (local time), the group said Friday.
The AutoTech Awards, organized by Informa, a global information and communications technology (ICT) research firm, recognize innovative companies in the automotive and mobility sectors across fields including artificial intelligence (AI), connectivity, software, safety, and the connected car ecosystem.
Judges highly praised Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) Group for producing the World Car of the Year for three consecutive years and for operating an innovative dedicated electric vehicle platform. They also cited the group's development of an 800-volt ultra-fast charging system and its track record of winning various design awards as reasons for the selection as "Automotive Company of the Year."
HMA, Hyundai Motor's US unit, had previously won the Automotive Company of the Year award in 2021 and 2024, but this is the first time Hyundai Motor Group itself has received the award.
A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "We plan to accelerate our software-defined vehicle (SDV) strategy and expand our connected mobility capabilities in the global market, while continuing to strengthen EV platform performance, safety standards, and design excellence."
The AutoTech Awards 2026 was held alongside the "Wards 10 Best Interiors & UX" ceremony hosted by WardsAuto, a US automotive trade publication. The "Automotive Company of the Year" award, selected by the AutoTech Awards, was operated under the name "Automaker of the Year" until last year.
