SK Ecoplant conducted a heat illness prevention campaign at a semiconductor cluster construction site in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, on June 29, in cooperation with the Ministry of Employment and Labor's Gyeonggi Regional Office, the company said Wednesday.
The campaign focused on the "Five Heatwave Safety Rules" for preventing heat-related illnesses. The rules include drinking water, using cooling devices, taking at least 20 minutes of rest every two hours, wearing cooling gear, and calling 119 in emergencies. The guidelines aim to prevent heatstroke and heat exhaustion that can occur in work environments with a perceived temperature of 31 degrees Celsius or higher.
SK Ecoplant distributed prevention items, including cooling scarves, to on-site workers and inspected heatwave response facilities such as rest areas and the operating status of cooling and ventilation systems. The company said it routinely emphasizes the importance of water, shade, and rest, while strengthening management of vulnerable groups and high-intensity workers through frequent health checks.
"We are implementing site-specific responses, including intensive management during peak heat hours, perceived temperature measurements, and health monitoring," an SK Ecoplant official said. "We will continue to establish a multifaceted response system so that our members can work safely and healthily."
