Asteromorph, an artificial intelligence (AI) startup developing scientific superintelligence, has raised 42 billion won in early-stage funding, the company said Wednesday.
The latest round brings Asteromorph's cumulative funding to 47 billion won. The investment was led by Bon Angels Venture Partners, with joint participation from Future Play, Mirae Asset Venture Investment, Mirae Asset Capital, IMM Investment, Premier Partners, Korea Development Bank, KDB Capital, SV Investment and STIC Ventures.
Separately, Asteromorph CEO Lee Min-hyung was appointed on the 27th as the project director (PD) overseeing the AI scientist mission of "K-Moonshot," a national strategic project. K-Moonshot is a pan-national initiative launched in response to the United States' "Genesis Mission" and China's "Banseok Mission," both of which leverage AI to tackle national scientific challenges. The project comprises 12 missions in total, with Lee leading the AI scientist mission.
"The core value of AI lies in solving previously unsolvable problems, thereby creating scientific breakthroughs and future industries," Lee said. "Amid the global AI competition, this is precisely where Korea must stake its bet."
