Choi Hyun-ah, a senior researcher at the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA), has been elected to a committee responsible for global internet policy discussions.
KISA said Wednesday that Choi will join the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF). The IGF is an international conference body under the UN that brings together governments, the private sector, and civil society. It serves as a consultative platform for discussing issues such as internet development and global internet public policy. The MAG is a committee that advises on the overall operation of the forum, with members appointed by the UN Secretary-General based on recommendations from each stakeholder group.
At KISA, Choi is in charge of international cooperation work, including internet address policy. She has run next-generation talent development programs such as the Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy (APIGA), and has previously served as a member of the Governmental Advisory Committee (GAC) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Choi will take part in key discussions, including agenda setting and program design, for the 21st IGF meeting to be held in Kenya this December.
